The Dallas Mayor's Intern Fellows Program celebrated its 10th year in 2017. To date, approximately 2,175 Dallas public high school students have participated in the innovative program, generating payrolls topping $4.8 million. Currently led by Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, the program offers eight-week paid internships where students earn a minimum of $9 per hour, gaining invaluable, real-world experience with Dallas' top businesses and nonprofits. Six Gensler interns, proposed a way to enhance Deep Ellum to bring more people there to live, work, and play by using research of Deep Ellum's history as well as strategies used by successful cities and communities. This was an urban planning project that involved the use of AutoCAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, Google SketchUp, and After Effects.
The Dallas Police Department Media Relations Unit would like to introduce their new media intern Blessing Wokocha. She was born in Nigeria in West Africa but has lived in Dallas for 17 years. Wokocha is a senior at the University of North Texas in Denton and graduates with her Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism this December. She's been creating, editing and producing some of the videos for the department and made this video below.
